CT - White Spruce

Scientific Name: Picea glauca
Height: 50-60 feet
Width: 20-30 feet (Crown)
Growth Rate: 8-14 inches per year
Habitat: Grows best in full sun, but will grow in partial shade, grows on moist or dry sites, on clay, sand or loamy soil, but prefers a well drained soil.
Spacing: Wildlife: 15'x15', 20'x20', Timber: 8'x8', 10'x10', Windbreak/Screen: 10'x10', 12'x12'

White Spruce is a Native Species and is straight stemmed and narrow crowned. It has high wildlife value for cover for songbirds and small mammals and is good for windbreaks. It is shade and flood tolerant, and is good for windbreaks, but it is sensitive to salt.

Age & Size: Transplants 2-1, 10-16 inches
