Sand Coreopsis

Scientific Name: Coreopsis lanceolata
Height: 2-3 feet
Habitat: Average to rich, dry soil, full sun to partial shade
Spacing: 12-18 inches

Sand Coreopsis is an easy-care native species wildflower, often used as a border plant. It is also called Lance-leaved Coreopsis, because of the shape of the leaves. It grows well in sandy conditions as well as in rich garden soils. It has a long flowering time and has very vivid showy flowers. It grows quickly from seed and tends to be a somewhat leggy plant. It should be planted where it has support, or towards the back. The seeds are popular with many birds.
