Invasive Species

The invasive species numbers and types are increasing in Grand Traverse County. The Grand Traverse Conservation District (GTCD) manages parkland for the City of Traverse City and Grand Traverse County. Removing invasive species is part of the management plans for these parklands. The GTCD also provides information for homeowners to help them manage invasive species they may have on their land.
Some of the most pervasive invasive species in GT County are Autumn Olive, Common Buckthorn, Common Reed or Phragmites, Eurasian Water Milfoil, Garlic Mustard, Gypsy Moths, Purple Loosestrife, Spotted Knapweed (pictured above) and Zebra Mussels.
