Tiger Cubs from Pack 27 picked a beautiful day for a hike on the Sabin Pond Trail. They began by looking at study skins and skulls of mammals of the area. The hike started at the Oleson Pavilion and continued on to the overlook on Sabin Pond. The trail passed through mixed hardwoods and descended down to the Pond. The kids and their parents were able to see pairs of swans and Canada geese on the Pond. Along the way they explored Eastern tent caterpillars in their tents, found the egg masses they hatched from, and learned how the caterpillars hide from birds inside the tents during the day. After traveling along a boardwalk through a wetlands, the group returned on a loop trail through a stand of mixed conifers. After the hike, they had a pizza party at the Oleson Pavilion. A wonderful time was had by all!
