Ben Purdy, Land Management Technician

Ben has (happily!) returned to the Grand Traverse Conservation District after working for the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts in Cadillac. Prior to that, Ben was here at GTCD as a Boardman River Project Intern, Boardman River Technician, and Gypsy Moth Suppression Program Technician.

Ben has an agricultural background and is the third generation of his family to be active with conservation districts. His grandfather, Harold Mitchell was on the Oakland County Conservation District board for over 50 years and his uncle, John Mitchell, is currently a state council member for region eight.

In 2002 Ben received his Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Development with a specialization in environmental economics from MSU. In his spare time, Ben enjoys woodworking, camping, competitive shooting, and spending time with family.
