Betsie Valley Elementary Hike - May 30

The rain today did not discourage our hikers from coming and enjoying themselves at the Oleson Pavilion! Forty Betsie Valley Elementary students and their teachers/parents arrived in the rain this morning so we stayed under the pavilion and let the children explore our preserved mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds. The children enjoyed being able to touch and feel the animals up close.
The rain soon let up and we decided to take a hike on the Sabin Pond Trail. Along the way we saw loons, ducks, swans, the Sabin Dam, tent caterpillars, and a variety of native trees and plants. We sent the children home with some rainy day activities. After hugs for all, the children got back on the bus to go eat lunch at Kids Cove. Hopefully the rain held off for them!
