Calling All Volunteers

As we settle into our new home at the Boardman River Nature Center, we are getting very excited about the potential of the new facility to help our community explore nature in exciting new ways – and ultimately, to become better stewards of our natural environment.  To help us reach this potential, we need your help!

+ We have an immediate need for Nature Center Docents to help us greet visitors to the Center.  Now that our doors are open to the public, we are looking for enthusiastic people to help us greet visitors of all ages, to answer questions, and to help out with the Center’s activities.  We are open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and have created two shifts each day (10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-4 p.m.)  We are also open on Wednesday evenings, and can always use an extra person then.  You may be interested in volunteering for a shift or two per week, or a shift or two per month.  Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated!

+ We would also love to have volunteers to help with the development of education programs, delivery of programs (volunteer instructors and hike guides), exhibit design/construction/maintenance, and a variety of office tasks.  There is plenty to be done, and something fun for everyone.

Full training is provided and absolutely no experience is required!  If you are interested in volunteering, or would just like to talk further about volunteer opportunities, please contact Colleen Masterson, Education Director at 941-0960 or cmasterson@gtcd.org.  We look forward to hearing from you!
