On September 20th, over a dozen volunteers showed up to help Clean Up the Commons Natural Area. These volunteers worked to remove graffiti, update kiosks, and slow the spread of many invasive species that are disrupting the area’s natural habitats. Over the years, unwanted use has made its way into the Natural Area. These volunteers had enough and decided to do something about it. With a grant from the Biederman Foundation, the District was able to purchase portable security cameras that can be located in some of the effected areas. The volunteers worked hard to remove the graffiti and the security cameras will help capture those who feel the need to vandalize and spray paint.
Thank you to Higher Grounds and Oleson’s for donating snacks and coffee to keep our dedicated volunteers energized. And of course a HUGE thank you to all those who graciously gave up their Saturday morning to make the Commons Natural Area a beautiful place for all to enjoy!
