Today nine 1st graders from Cornerstone Christian School came for a hike on the Grand Traverse Natural Education Reserve along with their teacher and three parents. We started the morning off at the Oleson Pavilion examining turtle shells and Raccoon, Beaver, Bobcat, Mink, and Coyote preserved skins. The kids loved touching the skins and learning about the different types of turtles found in Northern Michigan.
Once the kids had all seen the animals we headed out on the Sabin Pond Trail. Along the way we stopped to look at Swans, Eastern Tent Caterpillars, Marsh Marigolds, Jack in the Pulpits, glacial debris, Red and White Pines, Cat Tails, Trilliums, and different types of pine cones. The children finished off their exciting morning with lunch at the Oleson Pavilion.
Thanks Cornerstone Christian for a fun and energetic hike!
