We were joined today by sixty Grand Traverse Academy kindergarteners for an exploration of the five senses! Upon arrival to the Oleson Pavilion, the children, teachers, and parents walked around investigating the tables of birds, insects, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, plants, and smells set up for them.
Our hike started at the Oleson Pavilion and we split into four groups lead by Miss Cindy, Mr. Lew, Mr. Dan, and Miss Tesha. Miss Cindy and Miss Tesha took half the group on the Fox Den Trail while Mr. Lew and Mr. Dan took the other group along the Sabin Pond Trail. The kids saw a variety of wildlife this morning including marsh marigolds, cattails, butterflies, tent caterpillars, turtles, swans, and wildflowers. After our exciting hikes we met back at the pavilion where the children finished off their visit with lunch on the picnic tables. It was a beautiful day for a hike!
