Horsepower on the Boardman

We finally got approval from the DEQ to begin restoring the erosion sites for this year. We have already gotten a good start on two sites upstream from the North Branch sand trap, off of Guernsey Lake Road.

This site has been blocked off to prevent motorized traffic from further damaging the river banks, which presented a challenge in hauling materials to the restoration sites. Our Boardman River Technician, Rebecca Teahen, offered the use of Amber. Amber is a 31 year old wonderful Morgan mare that made our lives a lot easier by hauling fish structures and Cocoa Fiber rolls to the sites for us! We are planning to restore about 30 sites this year, so we are very glad to be able to get started!!

Please contact us if you'd like to donate time, dollars, or materials to the project!
