This week the Kingsley 4th grade class had their annual end of the year field trip to the Natural Education Reserve. The five classes each hiked from the YMCA to the Oleson Pavilion and then canoed back to the YMCA from the Sabin Dam. Along the hour hike we stopped to learn about different native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and invasive plants. It was impressive to see how much the children knew about Michigan’s native trees and shrubs! Some groups were fortunate to see deer, fish, frogs, turtles, and mink! The kids and chaperones had a great time canoeing down the Boardman River and looking for fish. Surprisingly everyone stayed fairly dry.
It was a great field trip and thanks to everyone who helped make it possible
