Master Gardener Volunteers Add Raingardens to the Nature Center

Thanks to several green-thumbed Master Gardener volunteers, the Nature Center's raingardens have been planted!  The gardens are planted around the Nature Center in low-lying beds that will catch rainwater and stormwater runoff.  The native plants and soil will soak the rainwater in, filter it, and slow it down so the groundwater will remain healthy.  This is a wonderful way to conserve water as the gardens will virtually water themselves.  Various native plant species are included, some of which are iris, cardinal flower, maidenhair fern, and cinnamon fern.  Visit the Nature Center, and enjoy a walk around the raingardens!
