No MDA Gypsy Moth Suppression Program for 2008

The Grand Traverse County Gypsy Moth Suppression Program received the following message.

Michael Philip, Pest Survey Program Manager
Pesticide and Plant Pest Management Division
Michigan Department of Agriculture

"Due to uncertainties in federal funding, changes in priority at the U.S. Forest Service, State budget reductions, and relatively low gypsy moth populations in Michigan, the MDA will not administer the Cooperative Gypsy Moth Suppression Program in 2008. However, the MDA will remain in touch with County Coordinators and monitor gypsy moth populations next year, and in the fall of 2008 we will reevaluate the need and feasibility of reestablishing the program for 2009."
