S- Gray Dogwood

Scientific Name: Cornus racemosa
Height: Short, multi-stemmed shrub reaching heights of 15 feet
Habitat: It is moderately shade tolerant, growing in full or partial sun. Very versatile shrub which grows well in poor soil conditions. Grows on dry or moist sites, on a broad range of soil types, but prefers a well drained soil. Resistant to drought.
Spacing: 6' x 6', 8' x 8'

Gray Dogwood is a Native Species that forms a rounded profile and is sometimes used in hedges. The fruit is eaten by ruffed grouse and other birds, and is very high in wildlife value. Gray Dogwood is easily transplanted and is drought resistant. It is sensitive to salt.
It can be planted for riparian buffers on streambanks, upper shorelines and upland buffers.
